PARK CITY YOUTH LACROSSE ORGANIZATION

PLAYER AND PARENT

CODE OF CONDUCT

“Work Hard, Have Fun, Respect the Game!”

As a parent, I understand that my behavior and actions have a significant impact on my children, my child's team, and our lacrosse community. The same goes for my child. Accordingly, I commit to the following:

1. I have read, understand, and will comply with, and will ensure my child has read, understands, and complies with, the following:

  • This PCYLO Code of Conduct.
  • IMLAX Sportsmanship and Inclusion Policy and applicable League Rules (and any other IMLAX policy enacted from time to time).
  • The US Lacrosse Code of Conduct; and
  • The US Lacrosse Rules for Boys/Girls Youth Lacrosse.

2. During practices, games, PYCLO functions, and any other time in which I am representing PCYLO (even if I am simply wearing PCYLO spirit wear), I will:

  • PCYLO Values.
    • demonstrate and emphasize PCYLO’s values of “Integrity, Respect, Discipline, Teamwork, and Passion”;
    • remember that I am a role model and represent my team, club, and PCYLO community;
    • play fair and treat each player, coach, and official with respect, dignity, kindness, and encouragement;
    • be gracious in victory and defeat, and after all games, shake hands with the opposing team with a positive attitude;
    • listen to, and respect, coaches' instructions;
    • show respect to the officials and accept their decisions without argument;
    • not bully, taunt, or tease another person for any reason; not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse; not use discriminatory or demeaning language;
    • take care of all team and personal equipment, return borrowed equipment in good condition, clean up after myself, and leave all facilities and fields better than I found them;
    • as a student-athlete, maintain my studies and respect my teachers and counselors; and
    • as a parent, refrain from “coaching” from the sidelines and stay on the spectator side of the field before, during, and after at all games.
  • Play at My Best.
    • understand that playing time will be based upon the 3 "A's":  Attitude, Aptitude and Attendance.
    • arrive to practices and games on time, prepared, and ready to go; inform my coach in advance if I will not be able to attend a practice or game;
    • work hard to improve my skills and my understanding of the game and give 100% effort at each practice and game;
    • stay fit and ready to play and report any injuries or health concerns to my coach; and
    • follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate gear for practices and games.
  • Conflict Resolution.
    • resolve conflicts calmly and respectfully;
    • use the procedures set by the Board to report any concern or misunderstanding, no matter how small, with a coach, official, any other player, or any other person;
    • follow the "24 Hour Rule": if you have a complaint resulting from a game (or practice) situation, speak with the coach on the following day and not in front of the other players or parents; and
  • Social Media.
    • Use social media responsibly and not post anything that could harm the reputation of myself, my teammates, or PCYLO.
  • Alcohol and Drugs.
    • Not be under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substance.

3. Understanding and Consequences. I understand that in the event I, or my child, violate the above, I (or my child) may be subject to disciplinary action, which may include any of the following, in any order, and in the sole discretion of the PCYLO Board of Directors (and that all records related to any such incident will be kept on file by PCYLO):

  • immediate ejection from practice, game, or PCYLO function by any coach, program director, cohort lead or PCYLO board member;
  • verbal warning by the Board;
  • written warning by the Board; and/or
  • suspension or termination from any future participation as a player, volunteer, coach, or in any other capacity.
