PC Varsity Girls Advance to State Championship against Skyline with a 13 -5 win over Bingham

Huge win last night over 2012 champs Bingham put PC in State Championship game Saturday

"In the second game of the double header, old rivals Bingham and Park City squared off in a rematch of last years championship game which ended with Bingham winning by one in overtime. This game ended much differently than most people thought. Park City scored early in often en route to a dominating victory over Bingham by a score of 13-5.

"Park City was able to get on the board first with a quick shot by McKenna Tychsen. Bingham answered with a goal of their own by Morgan Judd. This is as close at Bingham would keep it. Park City would rattle off five more goals to bring the score to 6-1. Bingham’s Kira Heiden would cut into the lead as she took advantage of a free position. Park City’s Madeline Haynes would add one more before halftime to give Park City a 7-2 lead at halftime.

Bingham was able to control the first draw and Rachael Munk scored first for the Miners of Bingham. Morgan Judd followed her up quickly for another goal to bring the score 7-4. Park City answered right back with a goal by Hannah Hyatt. Park City got two yellow cards to give Bingham a two-man advantage but it was Park City who managed to score to bring the score to 9-4. Park City would score the next four goals, two of which were by McKenna Tychsen. Judd added on for Bingham to bring the final score, 13-5.

"Park City controlled 14 of 21 draws while Bingham controlled 7. Bingham was lead by Morgan Judd who had three goals and Park City was lead by Mckenna Tychsen who had four goals. Park City had 10 turnovers to Binghams 14.

“I am very proud of our girls performance,” said Park City Head Coach Amy Hafets,”last year fueled our fire and we talked about coming out and giving our all for 50 minutes and they did it.”

Park City will meet the Eagles of Skyline at Copper Hills on May 18 in the D-I Championship game that will be begin at 1:00pm."
